Man charged w/shooting at CdA homes

At about 12:30 a.m. today, Coeur d’Alene officers responded to a report of multiple gunshots in the Hawks Nest and Coeur d’Alene Place subdivisions. Officers confirmed two residences had been damaged from gunfire. Both residences were occupied at the time, and one person was nearly hit by one of the bullets. Officers found Travis Gregory Duff, 28, (shown in Kootenai County Jail mug shot) behind his residence in the Hawks Nest subdivision on the west side of Atlas Road. Duff had a handgun with him and was not immediately cooperative. Duff was given commands to drop the gun, which he did. When he would not move away from the handgun, officers used a Taser, and Duff was taken into custody without further incident. Duff later admitted to firing three rifle rounds in the direction of Coeur d’Alene Place subdivision. Duff was arrested and charged with two felony counts of Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling. Detectives recovered the rifle Duff used and are currently investigating this incident. The motive for the shooting is not clear although initial information indicates Duff was not targeting the residences that were hit/Detective Jared Reneau, Coeur d'Alene Police Department.
