In Thursday's Huckleberries Online, state Rep. Luke Malek responded to an advertisement by Democrat Tom Hearn. Hearn is challenging Coeur d'Alene Republican Paul Amador in another House District 4 race: Hearn's ad said a vote for Amador would maintain status quo at the Idaho Legislature. Malek called the ad dishonest. Now Hearn responds again.
In his Cheers & Jeers column, Opinion Editor Marty Trillhaase of the Lewiston Tribune gives Jeers ... to Congressman Raul Labrador, R-Idaho: "He's oozing with so much extra cash in his current campaign that he's already doling it out in advance of a GOP gubernatorial primary election two years from now." Loren Toelle has signed an affidavit that declares her husband, Stanley, a Coeur d'Alene gastroenterologist with a thriving practice, knew nothing about the drug empire she built. The two lived separate lives, in Las Vegas and Coeur d'Alene. Scott Maben, SR, tells the story.
Although they weren't running against each other, Republican Chris Fillios and Independent Russ McLain fielded questions at a Kootenai Environmental Alliance forum Thursday. Fillios, who defeated Commissioner David Stewart in the GOPrimary is unopposed. McLain is challenging Republican Bob Bingham, who skipped another debate.
