An Election Day primer

On Tuesday, Kootenai County residents will join the rest of the nation in casting their votes for the candidates of their choice.

Multiple national, state, and local races will be decided on Tuesday, with eligible voters in Kootenai County heading to their polling locations from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. According to local elections officials, many have already taken advantage of early-voting opportunities.

Carrie Phillips, Kootenai County elections manager, told The Press that as of Friday, her office had received 11,530 filled-out absentee ballots. Absentee ballots must be received at the county elections office, located at 1808 N. Third St. in Coeur d'Alene, by 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Phillips said a total of 13,565 absentee ballots were mailed out to county residents.

Early voting at the county elections office, which was open from Oct. 17 through Nov. 4, saw a total of 8,534 eligible voters participate.

Registered voters should bring a photo ID with them to cast their ballot, or they may sign a Personal Identity Affidavit instead/Coeur d'Alene Press. More here.
