Local inmates escape Yakima jail

A pair of inmates - one from Spokane and one from Post Falls - escaped from the Yakima County Correctional Center sometime late Monday or early Tuesday.

A bed check at 4 a.m. Tuesday revealed that Steven D. Roche, 31, and Chad E. Tipton, 31, were missing. The last bed check had been at 7 p.m. Monday, according to a news release from the jail.

Roche, of Spokane, was being held on burglary and grand theft charges. Tipton, of Post Falls, was being held on charges of assault with a firearm, aggravated battery, unlawful possession of a firearm and resisting arrest/Nina Culver, SR. More here.
