The Slice

Halloween memories and weather

Ask Inland Northwesterners for Halloween memories and a lot of what comes to mind has to do with inclement weather.

A friend told a story involving his daughter.

She was dressed as a strawberry that year.

Everything outside was coated with icy slush. But she wanted to make her trick-or-treat rounds.

So out she went. But before she got out of the driveway, the little girl slipped and did a face plant.

Her strawberry costume quickly sponged up pounds and pounds of frigid water.

She was not a happy child.

Her parents helped her back inside. And they dumped their bowl of Halloween candy into their daughter's bag.

She didn't get far. And it didn't take long. But she had her haul.
