A young girl jumps over a pool of water after been turned away from school in Harare, Zimbabwe Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009. The Zimbabwean government deferred the opening of schools by two weeks in order to facilitate the marking of exam papers following a strike by teachers. The Zimbabwean Teachers Association has said their members would not report for work as the Zimbabwean government has refused to pay their salaries in foreign currency. Zimbabwe's education system' once one of the best in Africa' has virtually collapsed with most teachers opting to teach in neighboring countries due to the hyperinflationary environment.

A couple is reflected in the glass-covered photograph of a boy clutching a picture of his father who disappeared during Turkey's 1974 invasion of Cyprus, in the island's divided capital Nicosia on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009.Cyprus says it will file an action with the European Court of Human Rights to pressure Turkey to account for the fate of Greek Cypriots missing since it invaded the island in 1974. Turkish actor Attila Olgac said last week that while serving as a conscript during the invasion he fatally shot at least one prisoner on orders from a superior. He later retracted the claim, saying he made it up. Turkey invaded Cyprus in response to a coup by Athens-backed supporters of union with Greece. The Mediterranean island is still ethnically split into a Greek Cypriot south _ representing the island's internationally-recognised government _ and a breakaway Turkish Cypriot north. Around 1,500 Greek Cypriots and 500 Turkish Cypriots vanished during the invasion, and in clashes in the 1960s.

Kosovan Albanian, Agron Limani, 42, places flowers Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009 in the location where Serb forces killed his father and his brother, amongst 112 Albanians killed on March 1999 in the village of Mala Krusa, western Kosovo. The two are amongst 112 ethnic Albanian men and boys killed in the small village, one of the scenes of mass killings U.N. prosecutors accuse former Police Gen. Vlastimir Djordjevic of instigating in a trial that opened on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009 in the Hague. Djordjevic, 60, is the last suspect who will face trial in The Hague for crimes deriving from the 1998-1999 Kosovo war, during which prosecutors say Serbian armed forces killed hundreds of ethnic Albanians and deported around 800,000.
