A baby Loggerhead Sea Turtle is held by a member of the Broward County Sea Turtle Conservation Program, Wednesday, July 1, 2009 in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Fla. The Lauderdale-by-the-Sea Fire Department helped the sea turtle program remove 50 of the babies who had fallen into a storm drain, attracted by the lights of a nearby parking structure. The Florida Atlantic Coast is in the height of the Sea Turtle hatching and nesting season. Only one in 1,000 of the nestlings make it to adulthood. The babies will be released at night when that are less vulnerable to predators.
