Big Sky Looking At Area As Headquarters Site

Coeur d’Alene and Spokane are being considered as sites for the Big Sky Conference headquarters. Ogden, Utah, is also under consideration.

The conference offices have been in Boise since 1977, but Big Sky presidents have decided for a change, in light of Boise State’s and Idaho’s decision to join the Big West Conference in 1996.

Doug Fullerton, who will officially become Big Sky commissioner in July, has made factfinding trips to each city. He scouted Odgen during the conference basketball tournament last month, checked out Coeur d’Alene on his way to the Final Four and scoped out Spokane on his way back from Seattle.

“We’re looking for some inexpensive rental office space, and the towns have been responsive to us,” Fullerton said. A major airport is a necessity, he said.

Fullerton said he’s gathering pluses and minuses to forward to the presidents, who will make the final decision.
