Two Killed, Four Hurt When Car Hits Group

From Staff And Wire Reports

A green Oldsmobile plowed into a group of six people standing on a highway overpass Friday night, killing two of them and injuring four, authorities said.

One person was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, others were taken to area hospitals, KING-TV reported.

The driver of the green vehicle was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup.

The accident occurred on a Canyon Road overpass at Washington 512 near here.

Several cars had pulled over to the side of the overpass and the occupants got out to look at a vehicle when they were hit by a car traveling about 40 miles per hour, KING said.

“We do know they were standing outside the car, looking at it, when the third vehicle came along and struck them all,” said state trooper Tristan Atkins.

“There’s an indication” the driver of the green vehicle may have been drinking, he added.
