Judge Orders Elks To Admit Woman
A Michigan real estate broker may become the first female Elks member in the country after a judge ruled Monday that the local chapter must admit her to the all-male club.
Sharon Schellenberg has been waging a legal war to get into the Rochester Elks since 1988.
Oakland County Circuit Judge Hilda Gage ruled the lodge has been discriminating against Schellenberg and ordered she be made a member.
