Uruguay Sends Cuba Out-Dated Medicines
Uruguay is sending Cuba more than 1 million packages of medicine, much of which has expired and was to be destroyed, officials said Thursday.
“We decided to accept it due to the economic crisis in Cuba,” Cuban Embassy counselor Juan Astiazaran said.
“We know much of it has passed the expiration date and so it will be thoroughly tested on arrival in Cuba to see if any of it can be used,” he added.
Cuba would have to cover only the shipping costs. He did not identify the type of medicine.
