Annexing Of Parcel Considered Post Falls Asked To Annex Site Of Future Doctors’ Offices

A 36-acre parcel along the Interstate 90 corridor slated for doctors’ offices and apartments is being considered for annexation tonight in a Post Falls Planning and Zoning Commission meeting.

Schneidmiller Brothers Inc. is asking the city to annex the property on either side of Mullan Avenue west of Syringa Street so Kootenai Medical Center can move ahead with plans to build an office building there.

The Schneidmiller family gave 10 acres to KMC for a Post Falls health center, but the hospital needs city services to develop it.

Gary Schneidmiller said the family does not have plans yet for the adjacent 26 acres. The Schneidmillers are requesting commercial and high-density residential zoning for the property.

KMC tentatively plans to build a health facility that could house offices for doctors, radiology services, an out-patient laboratory and possibly some classrooms for health education, said Don Soltman, KMC’s vice president of support services.

In other business, the commission tonight will discuss proposed changes in the zoning and subdivision ordinances.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Post Falls council chambers.
