Spokane Schools Fill Posts

The Spokane School Board appointed two new assistant principals at a meeting Wednesday.

Becky Holt, an assistant principal in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, will be assistant principal at Glover Middle School.

Holt replaces Phil Newsum who became Glover’s principal after Alison Olzendam was appointed as the new principal at Chase Middle School.

Gary Neal, a science and math teacher and a parttime administrator at Glover, will become assistant principal at Chase.

Neal replaces Dianne Fields who will be assistant principal at Shaw Middle School. Fields replaces Susan Fahrni who took a job in the Medical Lake School District.

In addition, Judi Hopkins, a Shaw Middle School special education teacher, was appointed Wednesday to a one-year post to help supervise students at Chase.
