Fake $50 Bills Made On Color Copier

From Staff And Wire Reports

Police believe that counterfeit $50 bills passed at three Mini-Cassia businesses in the past two weeks were made on a color copier.

A Cassia County Sheriff’s Office report issued Aug. 3 said a counterfeit $50 bill was passed at Burley chiropractor Woodrow Dunlap’s office.

Dave Tracy, a Cassia County Sheriff’s Office detective, said the bill was a color photocopy.

“With these new color copiers and things they can make some pretty good looking bills, but the paper they’re on is just not good,” Tracy said.

Carol Smith, an assistant manager at the Key Bank of Idaho Overland Avenue branch in Burley, said three such bills were passed at a Burley department store two weeks ago. She said the bills did not have the texture of U.S. currency and were made on a color copy machine.
