Floods Kill At Least 73 In Marrakesh Region
Flash floods in the Marrakesh region of Morocco early Friday killed at least 73 people, the Interior Ministry said.
Sources close to aid workers in the El-Haouz province, a mountainous area east of Marrakesh, said there were fears the death toll could rise as a result of the floods triggered by violent overnight storms.
Reports said the floods occurred south of Marrakesh in a 19-square-mile area in river valleys on the northern slopes of the Middle Atlas.
Storms overflowed the Gigaya, Ourika and Gamat rivers, the reports said.
