Egyptair Orders Three Boeing 777 Jetliners
Egyptair, the flag-carrier for Egypt, has ordered three new Boeing 777 jetliners, Boeing Commercial Airplane Group said Wednesday.
The total value of the order is about $400 million, Boeing said.
The widebody twinjet entered service in June. Egyptair is to receive its first 777 in 1997.
Egyptair selected the longer-range version of the 777, capable of flying 8,000 miles. Its jets will be configured to seat 308 passengers in three classes.
Sixteen airlines have now announced orders for a total of 167 777s, and placed options on 99 more. So far this year, Boeing has received orders for 212 jetliners of all types, worth $15.3 billion.
