Police To Check Accused Trucker’s Handwriting

Associated Press

A man charged in one homicide in Clark County has been ordered to provide a handwriting sample for investigators to compare with letters claiming responsibility for as many as eight killings.

Keith Hunter Jesperson reportedly wrote one of the letters to his brother, claiming responsibility for killing eight women.

One of the eight women mentioned in the letter was 41-year-old Julie Winningham of Camas. Jesperson has been charged with first-degree murder, rape and kidnapping in that case.

The other letter was sent anonymously to The Oregonian newspaper in 1994. The writer said he was a trucker who claimed to have dumped five women’s bodies in Washington and California in the last five years.
