Gas Is Cheap… In Pennsylvania

Compiled From Wire Services

The sign says gas is 71 cents a gallon - a whole gallon? - and there’s a line of cars waiting at the pumps to fill up.

But this is real, not some Hollywood nostalgia movie about the ‘70s.

It’s just an old-fashioned price war.

As of Friday, the price per gallon of Turkey Hill Minit Market’s regular unleaded gasoline: 71 cents. A few stores down Main Street, the Sheetz convenience store-gas station advertised 73 cents a gallon.

It started more than a week ago, when Sheetz dropped its price from $1.15 a gallon to two cents below Turkey Hill’s $1.13.

Turkey Hill operates 222 stores and Sheetz 175, but the price fight is limited to Palmyra, just east of Harrisburg.
