Waters Nears Title Bid

World-ranked super welterweight Troy Waters moved a step closer to his fourth world title challenge by stopping Canadian Alain Bonnamie in the eighth round.

Waters floored Bonnamie twice in the eighth before referee Brian McMahon halted the bout after 2:39 of the round.

Waters may have been fighting with added fervor in the eighth. He had been penalized a point for low blows in each of the two previous rounds.
