School District Starts Annual Food Drive

The Coeur d’Alene School District’s annual food collection for the poor starts today throughout Kootenai County.

Students will go door-to-door collecting non-perishable food and toiletries for food banks in Coeur d’Alene, Athol, Hayden and Post Falls.

Last year, students collected 37,000 pounds. This year’s goal is 38,000 pounds, said Donna Messenger, drive coordinator.

The Kootenai County Multi-services Center provides emergency food for 350 to 450 families each month. The school district food drive will continue through Dec. 15. To donate, call 769-0769.
