Epidemic Limits Yeltsin’s Visitors

Moscow’s worst flu epidemic is limiting the number of people visiting Russian President Boris Yeltsin, who is recovering from heart trouble in a suburban health clinic.

“Most of the questions that the head of state thinks must be discussed are discussed by telephone,” presidential aide Viktor Ilyushin said Friday, according to Interfax news agency.

A serious flu epidemic has led to a quarantine this week in city hospitals and clinics - including Barvikha, the elite sanatorium where Yeltsin is staying, Interfax reported.

The 64-year-old president was hospitalized in late October for what the Kremlin said was a bout of acute heart trouble, and has been at Barvikha since Nov. 27.
