Tracy Tribbett Colfax Year: Junior Sport: Basketball Position: Guard

Six months ago, Tracy Tribbett was unsure if she could continue with competitive sports.

Those doubts are a distant memory. Tribbett has already played for a state champion this autumn and is on another team that is undefeated.

Tribbett scored 21 points against Pullman on Friday and 16 against Clarkston on Tuesday as her Colfax Bulldogs improved to 6-0 for the basketball season.

A little more than one month ago, Tribbett and seven others on the Colfax basketball roster led the Bulldogs to the State A volleyball title.

After last spring, Tribbett didn’t know if she could afford to join any team. She had developed Achilles tendinitis late in the 1994-95 basketball season. To quell the persistent pain, she joined the Colfax golf team rather than her usual track and field competition.

Tribbett, a golf novice, placed 18th at state but couldn’t kill the pain.

“I didn’t really know what to do,” said the 5-foot-7 junior. “I thought (the injury) would go away.”

Physical therapy finally eased the aggravation. Tribbett keeps the condition in check with consistent icing.

“She’s a hard worker,” said Colfax coach Terry Asbjornsen. “Coming off the injury, she’s working twice as hard.” , DataTimes ILLUSTRATION: Photo
