Child Rape Suspect Turns Himself In

From Staff Reports

A Kellogg man turned himself in Monday to face charges in the alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl. John Tuggle, 27, was charged with rape.

The alleged rape, which took place more than six months ago, was reported to Kellogg police on Friday, Officer Rance Chaffin said.

“Why the delay in reporting, I can’t tell you. Sometimes there’s shame on the part of the victim,” he said.

The girl lives in a rural part of Shoshone County, but the assault took place at a Kellogg residence, Chaffin said. Tuggle and the girl are acquaintances.

Investigating officers established Tuggle as a suspect. But before they could arrest him, he walked into their office, Chaffin said.

“The fact that he turned himself in makes it easier for us. But it can’t affect the charges,” he said.
