Rain Thawing Winter Carnival

From Staff And Wire Reports

They’re not singing “Winter Wonderland” in McCall this week. “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head” is more like it.

The mountain town of 2,500 people is readying for its 31st Winter Carnival. Rain threatens the festival, but organizers insist the show will go on, rain or no.

The carnival, which typically attracts about 100,000 people during its 10-day run, begins Friday and runs through Feb. 12.

Some sculptures, particularly the larger, lessdetailed ones, are holding up well. But the warm rain has played havoc with others.
