Crack Found In Police Car

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Spokane teenager was arrested Wednesday after police found what they suspect was crack cocaine in the back seat of the patrol car where he had been sitting.

Jessie Hoyt, 18, E411 10th, was booked into the Spokane County Jail for possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver.

Police stopped Hoyt downtown on suspicion of drug activity and found he was wanted on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. When told he was under arrest, Hoyt tried to run from the officer but bumped into the side of another police car nearby, police said.

He was taken into custody, and when police arrived at the jail they found a golf ball-sized package stuffed between the back seat cushions in the patrol car.

Officers routinely check the back seats of their cars before transporting suspects. The car was free of drugs before Hoyt’s arrest, police said.
