Offer Encourages Pet Sterilization
The Spokane Humane Society will hand out certificates for low-cost pet sterilizations starting at 9 a.m. Monday at the Spokane Dog Club Training office, 6905 E. Trent, behind Napa Auto Parts.
The effort is the agency’s fifth annual one and is part of an effort called SAFE, Save Animals From Euthanasia.
Each person who pays a $10 membership fee will receive a sterilization certificate. In all, 300 will be handed out on a first-come basis. The campaign is paid for with donations and a portion of fees paid by city pet licenses.
The Humane Society said it’s only possible through the cooperation of veterinarians, who offer services at a reduced cost.
