NEW FACES:

Ronald Phillips has been named director of operations for Sallie Mae’s new regional student loan servicing facility in Spokane. Phillips joined Sallie Mae in 1981 and most recently served as director of systems development with the Systems Division in Virginia.

CH2M Hill has added the following people to its staff:

Desiree Hedges has become an administrative assistant and receptionist. Hedges came from Metropolitan Mortgage where she was a demographic research assistant in the real estate division.

Sheila Greytak is an administrative assistant and is the lead in document processing. Greytak was previously a program coordinator for the Institute for Urban and Local Studies at EWU. She has a bachelor’s degree in English from Western Washington University.

Kim Nokes has accepted the position of design engineer with the transportation business line. Nokes, who earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at Gonzaga University, previously worked for the Washington State Department of Transportation in Spokane.

Chris Peterschmidt is a new design engineer for the transportation business line. Peterschmidt received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with an emphasis on environmental engineering from Washington State University. He was previously with Century West Engineering.

Kevin Campbell is a project engineer with the environmental business line who transferred to Spokane from CH2M Hill’s Bellevue, Wash, office. Campbell has a bachelor’s degree in geology and groundwater hydrology from Baylor University and a Ph.D. in geotechnical engineering from the University of Missouri.

Gerard Bengle has joined the culinary staff at University Inn in Moscow as executive chef. Bengle is a graduate of the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco. Prior to joining the University Inn, Bengle was Food Service Director at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort in Fairmont, Mont.

Rob Dunn has been named general manager of the Old Spaghetti Factory restaurant on South Monroe. Dunn graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in hotel management. Dunn has managed other Spaghetti Factory restaurants in Denver, Atlanta, Charlotte, N.C., and Portland.

MOVING UP:

Marion Conley has been promoted to group leader for business services by CH2M HILL. Conley was formerly an administrative assistant and lead in document processing.

John Manix and Christopher Hogstad have become partners of Paine, Hamblen, Coffin, Brooke & Miller. Manix practices in the firm’s litigation department, and Hogstad practices in the commercial law department.

David Coombs has recently been elected chairman of the board of Dietzgen Corp., a leading national supplier of equipment and media to the engineering and reprographics industries. Coombs, who graduated from Harvard College and earned an M.B.A. at Boston University, served as interim director of the Spokane Symphony during the first half of the symphony’s 1994-95 season.

STARTING UP:

Jerry Selbo has started a public accounting practice at his home in Otis Orchards. Selbo was a partner with A. Avery and Co., and received his accounting degree from Eastern Washington University. Selbo’s practice will focus on small business accounting and taxes.

Post Falls Factory Outlet Mall has added two new businesses:

Pepperoni’s is an expansion of Pizza Shoppe in Coeur d’Alene. Robert and Karen Knox have been owner/ operators of the Pizza Shoppe for the past eight years.

Kids 4 Less has opened a new store managed by Georgia Spranger. Kids 4 Less has 12 other stores, including locations in Florida, California and Tennessee.

ELECTED:

American Institute of Architects Spokane Chapter has installed 1995 officers and directors:

CERTIFICATIONS:

Dr. Justin StormoGipson of Coeur d’Alene has been certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. StormoGipson, who graduated from Dartmouth Medical School in 1982, has practiced in Coeur d’Alene since 1991.

Spokane Healthcare has received accreditation with commendation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. This is the highest level of accreditation awarded by the commission.

Kathie Nellermore, health care services manager for Group Health Northwest, has been certified as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality. Nellermore passed a written examination to earn the certification.

Dr. Jim Vancho, chiropractic orthopedist, has successfully passed the examination for certification in disability and impairment rating, enabling him to perform objective impairment evaluations on patients.
