Zip Code Resolves Montana Address Dispute

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Postal Service Solomon has come up with a solution - a compromise, anyway - in the debate over what to call this northernmost part of Missoula County.

Some residents call it Swan Valley. Others call it Condon.

The state highway map shows Condon 25 miles south of Swan Lake on Montana 83, which runs alongside the Swan River up the middle of the beautiful, quiet, forested Swan Valley. The post office is at Condon.

Roger Watson, an area resident for 19 years, spoke to Ted Blazina of the Postal Service in Billings, who explained:

“Basically what it amounts to is, people who live up in the Condon area - those people who live between Lindbergh Lake and Condon (the post office) - that elect to use the Swan Valley address with the Condon ZIP Code (59826) can do so.”
