Crabbing Boat Crew Member Dies After Falling Overboard

From Staff And Wire Reports

A crabbing boat crewman died after falling overboard in the Pacific Ocean near Leadbetter Point, Wash.

Coast Guard officials said Jerry Brown, 38, of Warrenton fell from the deck of the Calamari at around 11:50 p.m. Sunday. He was recovered from the water by crewmates, who radioed for help and placed Brown in the boat’s rescue basket.

U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Astoria sent a helicopter to the scene and hoisted Brown.

Brown later died at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria.
