Representatives of the NHL Players Association and the league ended three days of meetings in Chicago without indicating whether they are closer to an agreement that would salvage the season.

Lennox Lewis will fight Lionel Butler on March 18 at Las Vegas, his first bout since losing the WBC heavyweight title to Oliver McCall. On the same card, Michael Moorer will fight an undetermined opponent in a 10-round bout.

Kelley Wiltbank has been named Idaho State University’s athletic director, and will continue to serve as the school’s general counsel. Wiltbank, who has been ISU’s attorney for 11 years, replaces Randy Hoffman, who resigned last month to enter a family business at Atlanta.

Jack Shepard, an All-American catcher for Stanford, who played for the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1950s, has died. He was 63.

Bob Glidden, the winningest drag racer in NHRA history, was released from an Indianapolis hospital Monday after undergoing heart surgery Dec. 29.
