Lowry Declares Flood Emergency
Gov. Mike Lowry on Wednesday proclaimed a state of emergency for nine Western Washington counties hard-hit in last month’s flooding. The governor hopes to trigger federal relief.
Lowry’s proclamation cites extensive damage to state roads and both public and private property.
Flood waters, heavy rains, high tides and landslides did major damage Christmas week in Clallam, Grays Harbor, Jefferson, Kitsap, Lewis, Mason, Pacific, Skagit and Thurston counties.
