Men, Women Post Victories For Sasquatch

Kevin Hobart scored 19 points and Damien Schug had 15 assists, 11 points and five steals Wednesday as Community Colleges of Spokane erased a 12-point halftime deficit to defeat Yakima Valley CC 72-58 at Spokane Community College.

After shooting 21 percent from the floor (7 of 34) in the first half, the Sasquatch shot 66 percent (20 of 30) in the second half.

“This is the type of game that revealed our character and our improvement,” said CCS coach Sam Brasch.

CCS is 2-0 in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges and 5-9 overall. The Indians are 0-3 in the NWAACC.

Chad Goldsmith of CCS had 12 points and nine rebounds.

Brandy Hurlbert scored 18 and the Sasquatch (2-0, 10-4) shot 56 percent from the floor to defeat the visiting Indians (1-2, 10-5).

Shelly Johnson scored 14 for CCS, and Laura Fralich scored 13 and held conference scoring leader Shannon Welch (25 ppg) to 16. Yakima had 25 offensive rebounds.
