Nfc Title Game Tops For Fox
Fox Sports’ telecast of the Cowboys-49ers NFC championship game Sunday was the most-watched show in the network’s eightyear history and nearly doubled its ratings record previous to the season.
In A.C. Nielsen national ratings released Thursday, Fox posted a 34.2 with a 57 share for the game. By comparison, the highest-rated prime-time show last week was NBC’s “E.R.” at a mere 21.9.
Fox estimates that 85 million people watched all or part of the game, despite San Francisco leading 31-14 at halftime, en route to a 38-28 victory.
NBC, meanwhile, also did well, drawing a 28.3 rating and 58 share for its coverage of San Diego’s 17-13 victory over Pittsburgh in the AFC title game.
