Medical Team’s Plane Crashes; 34 Killed
An airplane carrying members of a humanitarian medical team crashed while landing Tuesday in this Indian Ocean nation, killing 34 people, state-run radio said.
Only six of the 40 people on board the Air Force DC3 survived, the radio said. The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
Most of the victims were doctors, dentists and nurses from the French island of La Reunion, the radio said. The victims were of Indo-Pakistani origin but born in Madagascar and living in La Reunion, the radio said.
