Motorcyclist Arrested After High-Speed Chase

From Staff And Wire Reports

Authorities chased a motorcyclist through the Spokane Valley for a half-hour Monday night at speeds of 70 to 75 mph before catching him in a field.

William C. Miller, 25, of Newman Lake, was arrested on charges of eluding police and possession of a controlled substance, the Washington State Patrol said.

Washington State Patrol Sgt. Lee Boling tried to stop Miller at Mission and state Highway 27 for failing to stop for a red light at 11:07 p.m.

Miller, who was driving a 1975 Kawasaki 900 motorcycle, wouldn’t stop and instead accelerated north on Highway 27, the state patrol said.

From there, he drove east on Trent Avenue, between some buildings at the Knotty Pines apartment complex, east on the westbound shoulder of Trent to Evergreen.

On Evergreen, he headed north to Bigelow Gulch and then to Stoneman and Peone, where he turned off the lights on his motorcycle, according to the state patrol.

He finally drove into a nearby field and tried to flee on foot. Troopers and sheriff’s deputies caught him there.

Police found small quantities of what they believe to be methamphetamine, marijuana and cocaine after a search of Miller.

Miller, who initially gave authorities a false name, also may face a charge of driving with a revoked license. , DataTimes
