Deer Park Fair Opens Friday

Find out who has the finest pot belly pig, goat and other livestock at Deer Park’s 74th annual fair, which begins today at 8:30 a.m. in Deer Park.

The fair will also feature a rodeo this weekend as well as a peewee rodeo in which youngsters ages 5-15 will wrestle goats and ride cows instead of bulls, said Denny Layton, fair association president.

The adult rodeo starts at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets cost $5 Friday and $6 Saturday for adults, $2 for children.

Other fair attractions will include the Deer Park Settlers Picnic and Parade, the Jimmy Dean Country Showdown Talent Show and a variety of commercial booths.
