Dump Truck Slips Off Cliff

From Staff And Wire Reports

A man was thrown from a dump truck on Friday when it slipped off a 30-foot cliff east of Coeur d’Alene and landed upright on its wheels.

The driver of the Poe Asphalt Inc. dump truck was taken to Kootenai Medical Center after the 5:15 p.m. accident near Turner Bay, said Cpl. Todd Brownlee of the Idaho State Police.

A nursing supervisor said late Friday that a report on the man’s condition was unavailable. His name, age and hometown were not released.

The accident occurred on state Highway 97, where road construction is under way, Brownlee said.

The 10-ton dump truck filled with rocks was too close to the side of the road and the soft shoulder gave way, he said.
