Victim Of Shooting Listed Very Critical

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 31-year-old Spokane woman was listed in extremely critical condition Sunday after being shot in the head, apparently by her boyfriend who then killed himself, police said.

Vivian Reynolds, 5118 N. Jefferson, was shot just before 8 p.m. Saturday. Her live-in boyfriend, Jim Simonsen, 31, then apparently shot himself in the head, police said.

Simonsen’s name was reported incorrectly in Sunday’s SpokesmanReview.

Reynolds was in surgery until nearly 1 a.m. Sunday at Holy Family Hospital.

Police were investigating the scene until after midnight, talking to neighbors and gathering evidence. Police still are investigating what led up to the shootings.

Sunday afternoon, relatives packed up cars and trucks with clothing and other belongings. They declined to talk about Reynolds and Simonsen.
