Area Students Named To WSU Honor Roll

The following students have been named to the dean’s honor roll in the College of Agriculture and Home Economics at Washington State University:

Colfax: Nathan Moore.

Colton: George Busch.

Connell: Brad Bailie.

East Wenatchee: Holly Weber.

Moses Lake: Jennifer Fenich.

Othello: Brenda Kummer.

Pomeroy: Doug Burt.

Pullman: Collin Campbell, Christin Fahrer, Suzette Holstad and Laura Siebol.

Richland: Kristen Olson.

Spokane: Meri Asterino, Michael Baden, Leeda Beha, Jennifer Miller and Becky Prescott.

Sprague: Jeffrey Safe.

Valley: Marti Bowles.

Walla Walla: Terri Mellish.

Wenatchee: Robin Brunner.

Marc Hamilton, a school psychologist in the West Valley School District, will be president of the Washington State Association of School Psychologists beginning July 1. Other Spokane-area association officers are Claudia Menard, chairman of the public relations/public information committee and northeastern Washington representative; and Mary Hoekzema, a school psychologist in Spokane School District 81, who is the state membership chairperson.

Colette Tutt, daughter of Jonathan and Diana Tutt and a student at Mead Senior High School, has been named an AllAmerican Scholar by the U.S. Achievement Academy. She also recently won an honorable mention from the Washington Poets Association for her poem, “The Promise.”

Jerry V. Poxleitner, mechanical engineering major at Gonzaga University, is the 1995 Robert and Claire McDonald Scholar. This award, based on merit, allows Poxleitner to spend a year at the Gonzaga University in Florence.

The following Inland Northwest residents have been named to Gonzaga University’s chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, the national honor society for business students: Mark Mazurik, Otis Orchards; Martha Steltenpohl, Mead; and Scott Atkison, Amy Balderas, John Lammers, Ted Lingard, Jeffrey Owen, Karen Rowland, and Gina Sundberg, all of Spokane.

Mary Ann Murphy, manager of the Deaconess Regional Center of Child Abuse and Neglect, has received the Liberty Bell Award from the Spokane County Bar Commission for making a positive difference in the community through participation in lawmaking institutions and democratic form of government.

Denise Zimmer, a dietitian at Deaconess Medical Center, was named a Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year for 1994. The state award is given each year to two dietitians who have made significant contributions to the profession by the age of 35.
