Compiled From Wire Services

Bob Murphy withstood a 17th-hole bogey to capture his third title of the season, winning the Nationwide Seniors Championship with a 4-under-par 68 on a rainy day in Alpharetta, Ga.

Murphy finished with a 13-under-par 203 total on the hilly, 6,777-yard Lakeside Golf Course. He defeated three-time U.S. Open champion Hale Irwin and Bruce Summerhays by two shots.

The final round was delayed for 2 hours, 20 minutes by a thunderstorm after the last group had played the first three holes.

Paul Broadhurst, who began the final round four strokes off the lead, shot a course-record 63 Saint-Quentin-en Yvelines, France, to win the $880,000 French Open by eight strokes with a total of 274.

Broadhurst’s 14-under total of 274 was ahead of fellow Englishman Neal Briggs, who had a final-round 72 to finish at 282.
