Pac-10

Ed O’Bannon scored 21 points as No. 1 UCLA clinched the Pac-10 Conference title outright with its 12th straight victory, 86-67 over Oregon State on Thursday night in Los Angeles.

The Bruins (15-2, 24-2) won their first conference championship since 1992 and prevented No. 12 Arizona (13-4 in the Pac-10) from tying for the crown. UCLA already had earned the Pac-10’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament based on its 2-0 record against Arizona.

Oregon State (5-12, 8-18), coming off victories at home against Stanford and California, trailed by 9 at halftime.

Washington 74, California 73

Freshman forward Mark Sanford scored a game-high 20 points - including the winning layup at the buzzer in overtime - to lift the Huskies in Oakland, Calif.

California’s Tremaine Fowlkes hit a jumper with 1:40 left to put the Golden Bears ahead 73-72. Sanford missed a turnaround for the Huskies with 45 seconds left, and, following a time out, California ran the clock down.

With 10 seconds left, Golden Bear guard K.J. Roberts missed an open sixfooter from the lane. Washington rebounded, and guard Jason Hamilton drove under the basket and dished to Sanford, whose shot dropped in as the final buzzer sounded.

Washington improved to 5-12 in the Pac-10 and 9-17 overall.
