Compiled From Wire Services

Serena’s Song, trained by D. Wayne Lukas and a winner of three stakes races this year, was made the 8-5 favorite to become the first filly to win the $600,000 Jim Beam Stakes at Turfway Park.

The front-runner, who has a string of four consecutive wins in California, will break from the No. 3 post in the Grade II race Saturday.

She will carry 116 pounds. The rest of the field - six colts and one gelding - will carry 121 pounds in the 1 1/8-mile race for 3-year-old Triple Crown hopefuls.

Tejano Run drew the No. 6 post and was made the 7-2 second favorite. Mecke, winner of the Tropical Park Derby, was the third pick at 5-1.
