Two Wppss Control-Room Managers Fired
Two control-room managers at the Washington Public Power Supply System’s No. 2 nuclear plant have been fired because of their actions during a reactor restart.
The April 9 incident also prompted a special Nuclear Regulatory Commission investigation.
The dismissals of the control-room supervisor and his boss, whose names were not released, were made independently of the three-day NRC investigation last week.
WPPSS and NRC officials said the two failed to follow standard operating procedures during the restart, which occurred several days after a maintenance-work error caused the reactor to shut down automatically.
