A Nice Trip To The Prison

Last summer, we took our three grandsons, ages 4, 5, and 6, to Deer Lodge, Mont. We planned this trip so we could visit the Grant-Kohrs Ranch, which is a national historic site, as well as a fully working cattle ranch.

We also toured the Old Montana Prison, Montana Law Enforcement Museum (inside the prison) and the Lowe Ford Museum. There is a shop in town that sells prisoner-made goods - also a nice doll museum and an old print shop where you can buy a “Wanted” poster while you wait.

All the tours and shops were great, but the prison was the highlight. The boys met an ex-guard at the museum and were able to ask him questions. They would go back and do it again.
