Utilizes existing cargo hooks or seat anchor points in most vehicles for attachment. For those vehicles that need cargo hooks, K&S Products will supply them at an additional cost and provides detailed instructions for quick installation. Front wheels strap to the bike frame conveniently utilizing Velcro tie-down straps available from K&S for $5.95. With the purchase of additional quick-release brackets, it is possible in many vehicle to carry up to six bicycles. With an additional attachment sold for $5.95, the Bike trans Porter doubles as a garage wall storage system for your bikes too!
Con: Model specific sizing. This would be the perfect utilitarian bike carrying system if it were adjustable in length. Then one rack would fit a wide variety of vehicle cargo area widths. As it is constructed now, if you sell your van or car, or go to use a rental or even decide to loan the rack to a friend, you’re out of luck unless the model is within the fit parameters of the fixed length.
Comments: I’ve carried my bikes on top of my car using a Yakima system which works well (if you don’t mind stretching, groaning and grunting while balancing on tip toes). I’ve carried my bikes on a hitch mount carrier, which works well too, but I’m always afraid that someone is going to rear end my vehicle taking my bikes with them - it’s also a very dirty place to carry bikes. Now, I’m carrying my bikes inside my 4x4 using the Bike trans Porter and what a difference! No more security worries, weather concerns, or road grime headaches. .. it’s worth every penny.
