Robert Snider Elberton, Wash.

No service will be held for Robert Snider, 71, at his request. Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Snider died Saturday from cancer.

He was born in Everett and graduated from high school in California.

He served in the Navy during World II and received a Silver Star and four Bronze Stars.

He and his wife, LaVerne, lived in Seattle and Alaska before they retired. They moved to Elberton to 1985.

His wife died last year.

He is survived by one son, Robert Snider Jr., of Kirkland, Wash.; six daughters, Mary Broderson of Kenai, Alaska, Sue Wedin of Seattle, Debra Wedin of Soldotna, Alaska, Cici Johnson of Washtucna, Wash., Kelly Moen of Yakima and Jennifer House of Burien, Wash.; two brothers, Carl Snider of San Francisco and Ralph Snider of Riverside, Calif.; three sisters, Muriel Cardier of Benicia, Calif., Marjorie Mapes of Longview, Wash., and Eldora Xanthis of Tempe, Ariz.; and nine grandchildren.

Edith Bear Hayden, Idaho

No service will be held for Edith M. Bear, 69. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bear, who died Friday, was born in Glendale, Calif. She moved to Hayden in 1974.

She was a homemaker and master gardener, enjoyed playing bridge and loved cats.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Hugh Bear; three sons, Fred Bear of Plummer, Idaho, John Bear of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Kent Bear of Coeur d’Alene; one daughter, Tekla Bear of Coeur d’Alene; and four grandchildren.

Verna Lundblad Spirit Lake, Idaho

Service for Verna Lundblad, 86, was held Saturday at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene.

Mrs. Lundblad, who died May 10, was born in Moscow, Idaho, and moved to Spirit Lake when she was 4.

She worked at a local grocery store, served on the election board and worked for the Spirit Lake Civic Center. She was a member of the Spirit Lake Grandmothers Club and was a published poet.

Survivors include one brother, Harry Hegge; one sister, Alice Boviall; one son, Gary Lundblad; one daughter, Nancy Rachunok; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Wayne Gunn Colfax, Wash.

Memorial service for Wayne G. Gunn, 79, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Colfax. Private burial was held at Colfax Cemetery. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gunn, who died Sunday, was born in Colfax.

He and his wife, Rosena, lived and farmed in the Colfax area.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Larry Gunn of Colfax; one brother, Arnold Gunn of Worley, Idaho; two sisters, Sherlene Losell and Betty Woodworth, both of Spokane; and three grandchildren.

Lorraine Lindsay Spokane

Graveside service for Lorraine V. Lindsay, 71, is planned for 1 p.m. Thursday at Riverside Memorial Park. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Wisconsin, Mrs. Lindsay died Sunday.

She lived in Spokane for 32 years and was an admitting clerk at St. Luke’s Hospital from 1964 until 1985.

She was a member of Zillah Chapter 111 of the Order of the Eastern Star and bowled in city leagues.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Verne Lindsay; one son, Jerry Gray of Spokane; one brother, Dale West of Tum Tum, Wash.; one granddaughter and one grandson.

Christie Sawyer Spokane

Memorial service for Christie D. Sawyer, 53, will be at 10 a.m. May 30 at Northview Bible Church. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Albemarle, N.C., Mrs. Sawyer died Saturday.

She had lived in Spokane for five years and previously spent 25 years in Bonners Ferry and Moscow, Idaho.

She was a member of Calvary Chapel in Spokane.

Survivors include one son, Jeff Sawyer of Hawaii; one daughter, Tiffany Gragg of Oregon; her mother and stepfather, Barbara and Jim Hines of Spokane; two sisters, Lynn Teodoro and Courtney Romine, both of California; her former husband, Tom Sawyer of Rathdrum, Idaho; and five grandchildren.

Dr. J.T. Person Hayden Lake, Idaho

No service will be held for Dr. J.T. Person at his request. A gathering is planned for Thursday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Hayden Lake Country Club. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Person, 72, died Saturday. He was born in Spokane and graduated from Central Valley High School.

He graduated from Washington State University and the University of Oregon Medical School.

He served in the Army from 1955 to 1957 and had a practice in Garfield, Wash., until he retired in the early 1980s.

He was a member of Anchor Masonic Lodge of Garfield, the El Katif Shrine Temple, the Hayden Lake Country Club, the Empire Club and Alpha Tau Omega.

He enjoyed fishing, golf and traveling.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Beverly Person; one son, Jeff Person of Richland; two daughters, Pam Pfaff of Farmington, Wash., and Valerie Person of Spokane; two sisters, Patricia Cathy of Salt Lake City and Laura Jo Barth of Vancouver, Wash.; and seven grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.

Damon ‘Woody’ Wood Spokane

Service for Damon K. “Woody” Wood, 44, will be at 2 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Cremation will follow.

Mr. Wood, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Thursday.

He graduated from Rogers High School and had served in the Army.

He was a service supervisor for Montgomery Elevator for 22 years and was a member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, Paul and Doris Wood of Spokane; his mother, Merle Luvaas of Spokane; two daughters, Kristin and Sarah Wood, both of Spokane; seven brothers, Dennis Harmsen, Dale LaBrosse, Jeff and Tod Wood, all of Spokane; and Stephen Wood, Jim LaBrosse and Leo LaBrosse, all of Seattle; and his grandmother, Dorothy Culver of Spokane.

Laura Thompson Spokane

Graveside service for Laura E. Thompson, 78, is set for 11 a.m. today at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mrs. Thompson died Sunday.

She was born in Helena and had lived in Spokane for 50 years.

She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church

Her first husband, Walter Morse, died in 1958. Her second husband, Oscar Thompson, died in 1984.

She is survived by one daughter, Jeanette Anderson of Post Falls; two stepdaughters, Marie Medley and Nadine Phillips, both of Greenacres; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Larry Cumpton Spokane

Graveside service for Larry E. Cumpton, 62, will be at 1 p.m. today at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mr. Cumpton, who was born in Spokane, died Saturday.

He worked as crane operator in construction.

He had served in the Army and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1474.

Mr. Cumpton is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joyce Cumpton; two daughters, Carol Llewellyn and Diane Starkey, both of Spokane; one brother, Dean Cumpton of California; and three grandchildren.

Bruce Marso Rathdrum, Idaho

Private graveside service for Bruce W. Marso, 67, will be held in Spirit Lake, Idaho. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Hopedale, Mass., Mr. Marso died Friday. A resident of Rathdrum for 16 years, he was an electronic engineer in the microwave tube industry.

He had served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Marcia Marso of Spokane; one brother, Robert Marso of Marion, Mass.; one daughter, Gabrielle Durbin of Rathdrum; and one grandson.

Pete Gregerson Rice, Wash.

Service for Pete Gregerson, 84, will be at 11 a.m. today at Pleasant Valley Church in Rice. Burial will be at the International Order of Foresters Cemetery. Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gregerson, who was born in Fairfield, died Friday.

He and his first wife, Lucille, farmed and logged in the Rice area. She died in 1947.

He continued farming and logging and also drove a school bus for the Kettle Falls School District for 19 years. He retired in 1972.

He is survived by his wife, Lucy Gregerson; two sons, Lee Gregerson of Colville and Gary Gregerson of Terrebonne, Ore.; four daughters, Shirley Edwards of Lind, Wash., Sharon Coleman of Oregon City, Ore., Sandra Nelson of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Ruth Joersz of Kahlotus, Wash.; two sisters, Alice Holford and Nora Johnnes, both of Spokane; 21 grandchildren and numerous greatgrandchildren.

Barbara Lockey Mead

Service for Barbara Ann Lockey, 68, will be at 3 p.m. today at Open Door Congregational Church in Deer Park. Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park is in charge of cremation.

Mrs. Lockey died Monday.

She was born in Horatio, Ark., and had lived in Mead for 20 years.

She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, the Elks Lodge, the Order of Eastern Star and the Baptist Church. She had been a Girl Scout Brownie leader.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jack Lockey; two daughters, Patricia Athey of Gladstone, Ore., and Connie Countryman of Mead, Wash; one son, Sam Lockey of Missoula; two sisters, Imogene Flournoi of El Dorado, Ark., and Corrine Cannon of Gilham, Ark.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Anna Hoff Spokane

Vigil service for Anna Hoff, 87, is set for 6:30 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Born in Richardton, N.D., Mrs. Hoff died Friday in Sylmar, Calif., where she had lived for the last six years.

She had lived in Spokane for 50 years and was a homemaker.

In Spokane she had been a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish and was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.

Her husband, Eugene Hoff, died in 1988.

She is survived by one son, Daniel Hoff of Canyon Country, Calif.; one daughter, Darleen Kiedel of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Julian ‘Jack’ Stuart Elk

Graveside Service for Julian F. “Jack” Stuart is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Fairmount Memorial Park in Spokane. Memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. at Peaceful Valley Church in Elk. Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Stuart, 95, died Saturday in Spokane.

He was born in Garden City, Mo., and had lived in Elk for 50 years.

He was a dairy farmer.

Mr. Stuart was a member of the Camden Grange and the Pend Oreille County Pomona Grange.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary Lou Stuart of Elk; one son, Lewis Stuart of Otis Orchards; two daughters Mary Rozelle of Elk and Alma Stuart of Medical Lake; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Peggy Christiansen Spokane

Vigil service for Peggy Jean (Smith) Christiansen, 41, is planned for 7 p.m. today at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. There will be private burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Christiansen died Sunday from cancer.

She was born in Billings, Mont.

She graduated from Gonzaga University with a bachelor of arts degree in 1976 and later received her master’s degree in administration and curriculum development. She had served as associate dean of students at the University.

She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Parish, the Spokane Country Club, and the Gonzaga University Alumni Association.

Survivors include her husband of 15 years, Dave, and two sons, David and Danny, all at home; her parents, Mary and Claude Smith of Billings, Mont.; one sister, Patty Orizotti of Butte, Mont.; and two brothers, Bob and Thomas Smith, both of Billings, Mont.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Gonzaga University.

Shirley Udland Spokane

Private cremation was held for Shirley Jean Udland, 73, at Riplinger Funeral Home.

Mrs. Udland died Sunday from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born in Kellogg and had lived in Spokane for more than 52 years.

She worked as a registered nurse for 45 years and had worked at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Mrs. Udland was a member of the Washington State Nurses Association and St. Luke’s Hospital Alumni.

Her husband, Elvin Udland, died in 1981.

She is survived by three daughters, Carol Dingwell, Judy Hartman and Joann Riepl, and two sons, David Baldwin and Eric Udland, all of Spokane; one brother, Carlton Peterson of New York; and 11 grandchildren.

Herbert Lyons Deer Park

Service for Herbert Lyons, 86, is set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Seventhday Adventist Church in Deer Park. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian Cemetery in Wellpinit, Wash. Lauer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lyons, who died Saturday in an auto accident near Inchelium, Wash., was born in Neapolis, Alberta.

A 55-year resident of the Deer Park area, Mr. Lyons was a farmer in the Williams Valley-Wildrose Prairie area. He retired from Hygrade Meats in Spokane.

He was a member of the Modern Woodsmen of America.

Mr. Lyons wife, Nancy “Millie” Lyons, died in 1992.

He is survived by one daughter, Nancy Liner of Kennewick; two sons, Joe Lyons of Spokane and Kenneth Lyons of Deer Park; nine grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.

Margaret Bailie Spokane

Memorial service for Margaret Starmont Bailie, 80, was held Tuesday at Riverside Mausoleum Chapel.

Born in Chicago, Mrs. Bailie died Saturday.

She was a longtime Spokane resident and had been employed by the Municipal League of Spokane, Spokane Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, Washington State University and Spokane Falls Community College, from which she retired in 1980.

She was a member of the Winona Chapter of the Business and Professional Women, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and the Spokane Police Guild Club.

Her husband, Clinton Bailie, died in 1959.

Mrs. Bailie is survived by one son, William Bailie of Spokane; two daughters, Barbara Edinger of Lynnwood, Wash., and Bette Weiss of San Juan Island, Wash.; two sisters, Charlotte Stone of Spokane and Bette Pierce of Oakland, Calif.; six grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.
