Missing Teen Returns, Had Visited Mother

From Staff And Wire Reports

Danny Dunlap couldn’t make the Lilac Parade, but he did make it home for the weekend.

The 13-year-old boy was missing from his father’s Valley home for almost a week. He disappeared May 11 when he went to West Valley High School to pick up a permission slip for the marching band.

He was picked up last week, said Sgt. Ron Ethridge of the Sheriff’s Department. Danny’s mother was somehow involved, Ethridge said.

“According to mom, he had gone to her because he wanted to be with her,” Ethridge said.

Denis Dunlap, Danny’s father, said his son was back at Centennial Middle School and back at home.

“He’s OK,” Denis Dunlap said. “Everything’s back on an even, normal keel.”

He couldn’t play his baritone at the parade Saturday because he didn’t have enough practice.

Denis Dunlap wanted to thank the community for its help. “I’ve had 3,000 calls concerning this.”
