Gasoline Prices Hit Highest ‘95 Level

Associated Press

Gasoline prices are at their highest level of 1995 heading into the Memorial Day holiday weekend, but the American Automobile Association does not expect the higher prices at the pump to deter travelers.

The AAA Idaho said its survey of 84 stations statewide found the average price for self-service unleaded gasoline was up a nickel a gallon since Easter and six cents a gallon since last year’s traditional opening weekend for summer travel.

But the AAA said holiday travel will be the heaviest on record with the number of people traveling more than 100 miles from home up 2 percent from last year.

The average pump price throughout the state was $1.18 a gallon for unleaded fuel.

Regionally in Idaho, the northern part of the state reported the highest average price at nearly $1.22 a gallon.
