Woman Clings To Car During Wild Ride

Compiled From Wire Services

A man has been charged with assault and kidnapping after driving for nearly an hour on a busy highway while his girlfriend clung to the top of his car.

The woman, whose name was being withheld, suffered cuts and bruises but was not seriously injured.

Police said Frank Bamba, 23, had argued with his girlfriend Saturday, then got in his van to drive away. His girlfriend jumped on the bumper to try to stop him, but he kept on driving. She then climbed on top of the van as Bamba drove down busy U.S. Highway 101, police said.

Witnesses called 911 to report the situation, and a California Highway Patrol trooper pulled the van over.

Bamba was taken into custody and charged with kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence and making death threats.
