Scouts To Collect Food Saturday

From Staff Reports

Thousands of Spokane area Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will collect bags of food Saturday.

Last week, Scouts dropped off bags for their annual Scouting for Food campaign. The Scouts hope to collect more than 150,000 pounds of non-perishable food.

Canned soups, stew, chili and tuna are among the most needed foods.

Scouts ask that the bags be placed on doorsteps by 9 a.m. They’ll pick up the bags shortly after that.

Residents who didn’t receive white plastic Scouting for Food bags last week may place food donations in any bag clearly marked for the Scouts.

The Spokane Food Bank will distribute the food to 17 agencies that provide food for the hungry throughout Spokane County.

The canned and dry food will help provide holiday baskets and emergency supplies.
